Antec has been a leader in power supply units. The quality of older generation models such as the True Power series has persisted to current models. The High Current Gamer (HCG) 620 is no exception.
This model comes with high quality parts. The power supply unit is rated at 48 amperes for the +12V rail. There is only one +12V rail but the supplied amperes makes this power supply sufficient for moderate usage. This unit can supply enough power for even the most advanced graphics card in the market. However, if you configure a computer with two or more graphics cards, then it is best to purchase a power supply unit with more watts, since this unit only supplies a maximum of 620 watts. The combined +5V and +3.3V is 130W and the +12V can output a maximum of 576W at one time. Make sure you do not overload your computer.
This is a non-modular power supply unit. Unlike other similar models, a non-modular unit means that you cannot remove unused power cables. This can be a problem in smaller cases. On the other hand, you do not need to worry about the cables falling off during the heating and cooling of the connectors.
The power supply unit has been officially rated at the 80 Plus Bronze rating. This means that the power supply will also operate at 80 percent or greater percentage of the maximum efficiency.
The High Current Gamer model is excellent but if you need more power, you might be better off trying the High Current Pro series.
