Stein;s Gate is an anime that puzzles many. It is repetitive, events repeat. Afterall, the characters travels through time and experiences the same thing over and over again.
Apparently, the anime has received high ratings and good reviews. Do mind, it is not as entertaining as some of the other suspense and thriller animes such as Death Note or Code Geass.
Without spoiling the anime, a brief explanation is given to introduce the anime. The story takes place through the minds of a mad scientist who proclaims that a certain organization is after him and his secrets. The scientist discovers a method to travel through time. As a result, events change drastically, so he ventures through time to correct his mistake.
The idea is welcoming but the story fails to thrill. Most of the events in the anime are uninteresting. The producers could have added cliffhangers to help captivate the audience.
In terms of the animation, it was well drawn. The anime is not as colourful as some other animes but there is enough variety to keep you watching. The problem is not the animation but the story telling. The story is explained in such a confusing manner that it makes the plot too difficult to perceive.
You can give the anime a try. According to reviews, the anime starts out slowly for about the first 5 episodes and then picks up later. I found the anime slow for the entire series.
