The Logitech Wireless Illuminated Keyboard is a refreshed model of the original Logitech Illuminated Keyboard.
The original illuminated keyboard is great, it had responsive tactile feel and was easy to type on. The keys were evenly spaced and perfect for an average sized hand.
The new wireless illuminated keyboard is terrible. The tactile feel is almost non-existent, which makes it much more difficult to type on.
Furthermore, the keys are smaller, so an average hand will feel as if crammed into a tight area. This can cause more typos.
There is also a strong concern of the battery life. To a surprise, the battery life of the keyboard is impressive. Each full charge will probably last over two months, even with heavy use.
Battery consumption is reduced as the keyboard's illuminated keys are turn off whenever the keyboard is not in use. After a short timeout, about 10 seconds, the lights on the keyboard fade out. To counter this, there is a built in sensor in the keyboard that detects motion. If a hand swirls by, the keyboard immediately lights back up.
While the form of the keyboard is significantly different from the predecessor, the wireless functionality is attractive. However, it is preferrable to purchase the original Logitech Illuminated Keyboard over the wireless version for typing comfort.
