Article 96 - SD Card Class Differences

As of this article, there are various classes of the SD card specification. This article will introduce and compare the speeds of each class.

The available classes of an SD card includes: 2, 4, 6, 10, and Ultra High Speed (UHS).

Class 2 supports 2MB/s in minimum speeds.

Class 4 supports 4MB/s in minimum speeds.

Class 6 supports 6MB/s in minimum speeds.

Class 8 supports 8MB/s in minimum speeds.

Class 10 supports 10MB/s in minimum speeds.

The UHS class SD card supports up to 104MB/s.

There is a simple formula to remember the speeds of each class. Each class number represents the megabytes per second that the class supports.
